Search privacy, SafeSearch and content policies
Private search and unfiltered search are not interchangeable promises. A service can limit tracking while still applying ranking, explicit-content controls and legal policies. For a sensitive or controversial topic, start with a precise research question and inspect the original evidence rather than assuming that a less filtered result is more reliable.
Four questions that need different evidence

What SafeSearch describes
Google's help distinguishes Filter, Blur and Off. Microsoft's help describes Bing's settings. Parents, organizations or networks may manage available controls. A setting is not a promise to return every page and does not remove a service's other obligations or policies.
Brave's documentation similarly describes content controls alongside its independent index. Comparing settings requires checking the service and context actually used, rather than assuming that every provider applies the same categories.
Research a disputed claim without changing the standard of evidence
- Write the claim as a question that could be checked. Record the relevant event date or jurisdiction if necessary.
- Look for the original document, data or direct statement behind a search result.
- Distinguish a report about an allegation from evidence establishing it.
- Track which results reuse the same underlying source. Repetition is not independent corroboration.
- Retain unresolved points rather than filling gaps with a confident conclusion.

Privacy and legal conclusions need their own context
A provider's privacy statement does not automatically apply to an external result page. A search setting also does not establish whether a particular activity is lawful in a particular place. The earlier saved answer made sweeping legal claims without a jurisdiction or supporting legal source. This revision removes those unsupported generalizations and supplies no instructions for bypassing managed restrictions or obtaining exploitative material.
Choose a service by the need you actually have
If the goal is a different collection of pages, compare independent indexes and metasearch. If the goal is a usable shortlist, read task-based engine selection.
